Biography

Father Ryan Mau was born and raised in Southern California as the oldest of three children. In 2015, he moved to San Jose, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Radio, Television, and Film from San Jose State University in 2017. After being accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of San Jose in 2018, he began his theological studies at Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois.

Father Ryan joined the St. Lawrence community as a seminarian intern in the spring of 2022. He was ordained a Deacon in 2023 and a Priest in 2024. St. Lawrence is Father Ryan’s first assignment as a priest, where he brings enthusiasm and dedication to serving the parish and school communities.

Father Ryan’s passion for ministry has deep roots. He spent many years involved in youth and young adult ministry in Southern California and volunteered as a high school confirmation catechist for over a decade. His early experiences as an altar server instilled in him a lifelong love for the liturgy and being close to the altar.

In his free time, Father Ryan enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. His energy, warmth, and devotion to his vocation make him a beloved presence at Saint Lawrence the Martyr Parish.
